The Japanese carmaker has just introduced the new generation of Sequoia. The new model arrived after so many years, so it’s no wonder that the redesign was full of significant changes. We saw a completely new design, with improvements in nearly every aspect. However, that doesn’t mean that the 2024 Toyota Sequoia, which will represent the second production year of the generation, will come without novelties. Various sources suggest that the next year’s model will come with a new powertrain option on offer, with a turbo V6 engine.
Other than that, we presume that most things are about to remain the same. We are about to see a familiar layout, with familiar design and features. This SUV has a lot of great things to offer, starting from the comfortable cabin, long list of standard and available features, capable powertrain and good off-road performances.
Despite the potential novelties, we don’t expect to see the 2024 Toyota Sequoia before the last quarter of the year.
2024 Toyota Sequoia Design
As we’ve just mentioned, this will be the second production year of the generation. So, there is no doubt that the overall design is about to remain the same. The new model rides on the company’s new platform, known as TNGA-F, which has brought significant weight savings and various chassis and suspension upgrades. For that reason, the new generation is more efficient and more comfortable. Also, there s the new styling, which brings a bolder and more rugged design compared to the previous generation.
Another strong point of this SUV is off-road performance. Base models are already quite capable, but the real deal comes with the TRD Pro trim. This model brings various upgrades, such as a higher ground clearance (9.1 inches), two-speed transfer case, rear locking differential, additional traction modes etc.
Interior
On the inside, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia will continue in the same way. The new cabin looks significantly better compared to the previous generation. The dashboard looks bolder and more attractive, while the whole cabin utilizes much finer materials. There is much more attention to detail, while the overall build quality is at a notably higher level. Finally, the amount of tech and convenience features is pretty impressive.
The front seats are massive and supportive, while the good driving position provides great visibility in all directions, despite the vehicle’s size. The second row is as spacious and accommodates three adults with ease. Alternatively, you can swap the second-row bench for the captain’s chairs. The third row, on the other hand, isn’t as spacious as the third row from rivals like Expedition or Tahoe. Still, it offers easy access, so it can be pretty useful in many situations.
One of the weakest points of the new Sequoia is the cargo space, which is significantly smaller compared to the previous generation, as well as key competitors. Due to the hybrid powertrain and batteries, the seats don’t fold flat, so the volume goes around 22.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 49 cubic feet with these seats folded and up to 86.9 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded.
Features
Since we are talking about the second production year, there should be no bigger changes regarding in terms of standard and available equipment. Base models should come with goodies like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, satellite radio, an eight-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, multiple USB ports a Wi-Fi hot spot, tri-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, push-button start and a moonroof.
Among upgrades, expect to find goodies like a 14-inch touch screen, a 14-speaker stereo, wireless device charging, a 120-volt household-style power outlet, rear sunshades and a panoramic moonroof.
2024 Toyota Sequoia Engines
The initial version came with a single powertrain option. That is the company’s new hybrid system, based on a turbocharged V6 engine, which features a combined output of 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, which is plenty enough for strong performance. Also, this system offers pretty good fuel economy, which goes around 21 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, which is way above average for the segment.
However, this powertrain is the main reason for Sequoia’s high starting price, so it’s no wonder that many sources suggest that the 2024 Toyota Sequoia could bring a gasoline version as well. That model would feature the company’s new 3.4-liter turbo V6, which puts out around 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.
2024 Toyota Sequoia Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2024 Toyota Sequoia sometime in the last quarter of 2023. If the new gasoline version comes, we expect a notably lower starting price. Meanwhile, the hybrid version starts at around 59.000 dollars.
