It looks like the 4Runner is finally about to be redesigned. From what we know, the all-new model will arrive in the next year and this will be the first redesign in 14 years. Logically, the expectations are huge, and that refers to all versions, including the 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. Once again, this will be the most capable off-roader in the lineup, which will come with a full load of extra features.

Of course, most of these features will be in terms of off-road hardware. Besides significant mechanical upgrades, this version will also feature pretty unique styling. Of course, we shouldn’t forget all the novelties that will be introduced with this redesign, which will affect the whole lineup, starting from the new platform, new aesthetics, new powertrain and many more.

We expect that the 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro will arrive sometime in the second half of the next year.

2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro Design

Of course, the 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro will benefit from a complete redesign. So, let’s talk about the overall changes first. This redesign will bring a full load of changes, starting from a completely new platform. Of course, we are talking about the new TNGA-F architecture, which already underpins models like the new Sequoia and Land Cruiser. Of course, it will be slightly downsized for this occasion, as we don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of size. The new 4Runner should keep the same or very similar wheelbase, as well as the overhangs, in order to retain the same level of off-road potential.

Naturally, we also count on the new styling, which should follow the brand’s latest design language, established by the aforementioned Sequoia and Tundra. Still, there is always plenty of room for exclusive details.

Features

Just like in the current generation, the new 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro will come with all kinds of exclusive features. This refers to various aspects but the most important thing we should talk about is the off-road hardware. According to the latest reports, the new model will come fully loaded, with three locking differentials, front, center and rear. Furthermore, we count on a two-speed transfer case, upgraded suspension with Fox shocks, additional skid plates, all-terrain tires etc.

Furthermore, we expect to see a lot of exclusive styling details, such as a blacked grille, unique wheels, TRD Pro badges and many other things. The same is expected with the exterior design.

Interior

The interior design is probably the weakest point of the current generation, which is no wonder, considering that not many things have changed since the model’s initial launch back in 2009. Therefore, the new model should bring way more attractive aesthetics, along with much finer materials and lots of new tech features and driver-assistance features.

As we already mentioned, the new model shouldn’t feature bigger changes regarding interior space, considering that the overall dimensions are about to remain the same or very similar. So, base models should come with two rows of seats and an optional third row. In the current generation, the first two rows are very spacious and comfortable. On the other hand, the third row works best for kids.

The same is with the cargo area, which already offers respectable numbers for the class. The current model is good for about 90 cubic feet of the overall cargo volume, so we don’t believe that the new model could offer much more than that.

2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro Engines

Big changes are coming under the hood. First of all, the good-old 4.0-liter V6 will be retired. Despite the impressive level of reliability, this engine is simply too thirsty by today’s standards and the 4Runner desperately needs something more efficient. The replacement will probably come in the form of the new 2.4-liter turbo-four, which features a max output of 275 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque. Besides the new engine, we also expect to see a new transmission. That will probably be an 8-speed unit.

Some sources also speculate about a hybrid version. That model would feature the company’s new system, based on a turbo-four engine, with nearly 350 horsepower. We are still waiting for the officials for more details.

2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro sometime in the second half of the next year. The starting price should go around 55.000 dollars.
