The current generation of GMC’s full-size SUV has been around for a couple of years and it looks like the company started thinking about updates right away. Namely, the test mule of what is believed to be the refreshed Yukon has been spotted on the road and if we can trust the latest reports, it will be ready to hit the market already in the next year. Of course, these changes will affect the stretched-wheelbase model as well, which will come as the 2024 GMC Yukon XL.
At this point, we can see that both ends of the vehicle carry camouflage, which indicates a number of styling changes. Besides, the aesthetical updates, we believe that this mid-cycle refresh could bring novelties in terms of tech features, while interior updates are possible as well. On the other hand, we don’t expect to see changes under the hood.
Allegedly, the 2024 GMC Yukon XL will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2023.
2024 GMC Yukon XL Design
As we’ve just mentioned, most of the changes that are about to come will be in terms of aesthetics. The test mule wears camouflage on both ends but we are pretty sure that major updates will be made at the front. In that area, we expect to see certain revisions in areas like the grille, headlights, bumper etc. The rear end should bring a few modifications as well, while we also count on goodies like new wheels, new color options etc.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle is about to remain the same. Therefore, you may count on the same ride quality, as well as on the same off-roading and utility potential. Speaking of off-roading, the AT4 will continue with upgrades like hill descent control, a two-speed transfer case, a heavy-duty air filter, a front skid plate, GMC’s Magnetic Ride Control etc. On the other hand, rumors suggest the AT4X model as well, which would add locking differentials and a few more upgrades.
Interior
Certain interior updates are also quite possible. However, we are pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same, considering that the current model already looks attractive from the inside. We are about to see a familiar dashboard design, as well as the unique design in the Denali trim level. The materials are fine, while the build quality is good, so there isn’t much to expect when it comes to the 2024 GMC Yukon XL interior.
Of course, the cabin dimensions will also remain the same. Therefore, you may count on three very generous rows of seats, which accommodate up to 8 passengers. Thanks to 134 inches in wheelbase, even the third row accommodates adults with ease. Furthermore, the cargo area is probably the biggest in the class, with 41.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 93.8 cubic feet behind the second row, and 144.7 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
Features
Of course, this update will bring certain updates in terms of standard and available equipment as well. From what we know so far, there is a big chance to see the new Ultra Cruise, which would be a significantly improved version of the Super Cruise. The new system would bring better capabilities regarding autonomous driving.
More standard equipment seems like a certain thing but we have to say that the current model is already pretty good in this aspect. It comes standard with goodies like a 10.2-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, six USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, push-button start, remote start, keyless entry, and tri-zone automatic climate control.
2024 GMC Yukon XL Engines
Compared to other aspects of the vehicle, this one probably won’t bring bigger changes. So, we expect to see three familiar powertrain options available. Base models will continue with a 5.3-liter V8 engine that puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Also, there is a more capable 6.2-liter V8, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
You may also count on a 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel with 277 horsepower. Thanks to the pretty massive max torque of 460 pound-feet, it moves this huge SUV with ease. At the same time, fuel economy is excellent. You may count on about 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, which is the best rating in the class by a huge margin.
2024 GMC Yukon XL Release Date and Price
We expect to see the updated 2024 GMC Yukon XL sometime in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 56.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Ford Expedition Max, Toyota Sequoia, Jeep Wagoneer L etc.
