After the recent refresh, which has brought a lot of interesting novelties, we are pretty sure that the current generation of BMW’s full-size SUV will carry on in a familiar way and remain in production for a few more years. Therefore, the 2024 BMW X7 should be a typical carryover model, with the same design and minor updates only.

Therefore, you may count on an SUV that has so many great things to offer. We like this model for many reasons, starting from the great ride quality, which offers both a high level of comfort and a high level of athleticism. Furthermore, the cabin looks amazing, while the amount of passenger and cargo space is pretty respectable as well. Finally, there is a pretty nice lineup of capable and refined powertrain options.

Considering that no bigger changes are about to come, we expect that the 2024 BMW X7 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2023.

2024 BMW X7 Design

The recent update has brought a lot of big novelties, so we are pretty sure that the 2024 BMW X7 will be a typical carryover model. It will continue with all the updates that were introduced for the 2023 model year, starting from the new styling. The new model brings a completely new front-end look, designed to separate this model from the rest of the lineup. Of course, the most notable are new super-sharp headlights, which are now separated from daytime running lights and other lighting groups.

The rear end also received a couple of novelties, while there are also goodies like new wheels, color options etc. All this indicates that the 2024 X7 will feature no notable changes. Of course, this refers to mechanics as well, where this model really stands out with its fantastic chassis and suspension setup, which makes it drive better than most rivals, whether it’s about comfort or athleticism.

The same thing is with the inside of this SUV, where the recent update has brought a revised dashboard, which takes a lot of inspiration from the iX all-electric SUV. This particularly refers to the new digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen, which come integrated and look very futuristic. The whole cabin looks very attractive and offers pretty impressive overall quality. The materials are super-fine, and everything feels assembled extremely well.

2024 BMW X7 Interior

The X7 is also a pretty spacious SUV. The front seats are massive and supportive, while we particularly like the driving position. The second row is as spacious and comfortable, while the third row is slightly tighter compared to the competition, though still very functional. The cargo area offers around 12.8 cubic feet behind the third row, 48.6 cubic feet behind the second row and 90.4 cubic feet of the total cargo volume, which is a decent amount of space but still less than you get from U.S. rivals like Lincoln Navigator or Cadillac Escalade.

We don’t believe that the 2024 BMW X7 could bring more significant changes in this aspect. So, base models should come with goodies like a 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, a 10-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, two USB ports, Bluetooth, proximity keyless entry, remote start, ambient interior lighting, a universal garage door opener, a panoramic moonroof, and quad-zone automatic climate control.

The same thing is with the list of available features, where we expect to see goodies like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, infotainment gesture control, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo, a rear-seat entertainment system, a driving information and video recorder, power soft-closing doors, glass instrument controls, five-zone automatic climate control, heated and cooled cup holders, and a larger moonroof with LED lighting.

2024 BMW X7 Engines

The powertrain lineup is also about to remain the same. So, base models will come with the recently upgraded 3.0-liter inline-six, which now puts out 375 horsepower. That’s plenty enough power for a convenient ride but there are also a few more capable variants for those who look for something sportier. Of course, we are talking about BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo engine, which puts out around 523 horsepower.

The same engine is in the Alpina XB7 version but tuned up to 630 horsepower. All three engines come in pair with an 8-speed ZF transmission, which does an excellent job.

When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine is, of course, the best choice. You may count on about 21 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which is pretty impressive for the class.
