Even though it’s been around for a very long time, the X6 still stands out from the crowd thanks to its pretty unique design approach and coupe-like design. The current generation is relatively fresh and still looks attractive but the Bavarian carmaker doesn’t want to sit and wait. Instead, it already prepares an update for this coupe crossover. While the more conventional X5 is about to get a facelift in 2023, this model will get refreshed a year later. It will come as the 2024 BMW X6 and we expect to see all kinds of interesting updates.
At this point, we know for sure that the 2024 BMW X6 will get a new styling. We expect subtle novelties in various areas of the vehicle. Furthermore, we count on interesting interior updates, while new standard and available equipment is another thing that comes to mind. Finally, we might see some upgrades under the hood.
We expect to see the 2024 BMW X6 sometime in the second half of 2023.
2024 BMW X6 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 BMW X6 is about to receive an update. We expect to see a similar approach as in the case of the X5, which means subtle changes in various areas. Of course, most of the changes will be made to the front end, where we expect to see revisions in areas like headlights, grille, bumper etc. A big relief is that the grille won’t become ridiculously huge, like in the case of the 4 Series. The rear end might come with smaller revisions as well, while we also count on typical mid-cycle updates, such as new wheels, new color options etc.
On the other hand, we don’t expect to see any bigger changes regarding mechanics. In this aspect, the X6 will carry on in the same way, which also means that you may count on familiar ride quality. This SUV is easy to drive and offers pretty engaging handling. At the same time, the ride is quite smooth and comfortable.
Interior
We expect some interior updates as well. One of the most anticipated things is the new dashboard design, which should bring a new infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster. These units would be integrated and designed in the same fashions as those found in the iX all-electric crossover. Furthermore, we might see a few more revisions to the dashboard and center console, as well as some new materials, color schemes etc.
The overall cabin layout will remain the same. We are about to see the same amount of passenger space, which is pretty good in both rows. The front seats are massive and supportive, while the driving position is great. The second row is very generous with legroom, though the headroom is a little bit compromised by the sloping roof design.
Features
Of course, we expect to see interesting novelties in this aspect, some notable additions to the list of standard equipment. We already mentioned the new tech features, but probably won’t be the only novelties to come. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, five USB ports, satellite radio, HD Radio, a 10-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, push-button start, proximity keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic moonroof.
We presume that some of the currently available features might become standard. Some of the “potential candidates” are features like premium audio speakers, quad-zone automatic climate control and remote start.
2024 BMW X6 Engines
The engine lineup will probably remain very similar, though we could see some upgrades to the current units. This particularly refers to the base inline-six engine, which currently puts out 335 horsepower. The max output could go up to 375 horsepower, like in the case of the new X7.
On the other hand, the 4.4-liter V8 might come with a small electric motor, forming a mild-hybrid setup. The max output would probably remain at 523 horsepower, but we would see slight improvements regarding driving dynamic and fuel economy.
Finally, the M model should carry on with the same 600-hp V8 engine.
All units will come coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission.
2024 BMW X6 Release Date and Price
The updated 2024 BMW X6 should arrive sometime in the second half of 2023, with a starting price of around 70.000 dollars. Models like Audi Q8 and Mercedes-Benz GLE will remain key competitors.
