The current generation of Honda’s biggest SUV has been around since 2015 and those who are familiar with Honda’s production cycles know very well that the redesign is near. Moreover, you don’t even have to know such things and do mathematics, considering that the test mule has been spotted on the road. The latest reports suggest that the new model will come sometime in next year, as the 2023 Honda Pilot.
At this point, most of the things about the next-generation model are a mystery. However, some of the things can easily be predicted, especially when it comes to mechanics, styling and size. The new model will be bigger and will look bolder compared to the current one. Also, we count on improvements in terms of interior quality, interior space and similar things. The powertrain will remain the same, most
likely, though we won’t exclude the possibility to see a hybrid version one day.
2023 Honda Pilot Redesign
The upcoming redesign will bring a lot of interesting novelties. When it comes to the first 2023 Honda Pilot changes that come to mind, we should mention the size. The new model will be bigger and it will feature a longer wheelbase. The Pilot’s sibling, Acura MDX, already debuted and it features 2.8 inches more between the axles. Naturally, this increase will be highly beneficial in terms of interior space and overall ride quality.
Also, the new platform will bring benefits in terms of rigidity. The new chassis will be stiffer, but it will also provide some notable weight savings. In practice, this means better fuel economy and improvements in terms of handling and ride quality in general.
Of course, the new model will bring a completely new styling as well. As we already mentioned, the test mule has been spotted on the road. However, it still wears camouflage, so it’s hard to talk about details. From what we can see, the new shape looks bolder, while the hood seems longer. All this would provide a more attractive look, considering that rugged appearance is pretty popular these days.
One of the things we could see through the camouflage is the grille. It looks pretty massive and features a 3D pattern, which means it will probably look pretty similar to the updated Ridgeline. Moreover, the whole front end should have a lot of similarities with the unibody truck. That has always been the case in the past.
When it comes to interior design, the 2023 Honda Pilot redesign should bring significant improvements. First of all, we count on a completely new dashboard design. The current one looks good but definitely needs some more stylish details. Therefore, we expect that the new one will utilize quality materials and bring new shapes. Still, everything should be designed in a quite conservative manner, like was always the case with this crossover. Furthermore, we expect that the list of standard features will be much longer compared to the outgoing model, especially in terms of tech features.
Thanks to the longer wheelbase, the 2023 Honda Pilot will certainly offer more room on the inside. Even though the current model is already pretty decent in this aspect, improvements are always welcome. We presume that the focus will be on making the third row more adult-friendly. Also, the cargo area might get few more cubic feet, even though the current model is beyond impressive in this aspect.
2023 Honda Pilot Engine
Most likely, things won’t change too much under the hood of the 2023 Honda Pilot, at least when it comes to the engine. We count on a good-old 3.5-liter V6, which will feature a max output of 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. The engine should come in pair with a new 10-speed automatic transmission and this refined setup should ensure a smooth ride and solid performance.
Besides the good-old V6, we might also see a hybrid version one day. At this point, the officials are quiet and we have no doubt that this version won’t be ready for the initial launch. Instead, it will probably arrive in later years of the production cycle.
2023 Honda Pilot Release Date and Price
When it comes to the 2023 Honda Pilot release date, the best we could say at this point is that the new model will arrive sometime in the next year. The base price should go around 33-34.000 dollars. Of course, the competition remains the same, which means models like Toyota Highlander, Chevy Traverse, VW Atlas etc.
