The current generation of Chevy’s full-size SUV has been around for less than two years and therefore, we don’t believe that the 2023 Chevy Tahoe could come with bigger changes. There were plans to introduce GM’s semi-autonomous driving system in the next year but that has been delayed due to the chip shortage. So, all we expect to see from the next year’s model are minor updates. A few things may be added to the list of standard equipment, while we could also see some new color options on the offer.
In any case, the overall layout will remain the same. The next year’s Tahoe will continue to deliver familiar pros and cons. When it comes to things we like about Tahoe, we should mention its spacious cabin, intuitive infotainment system, capable powertrain options and super-efficient diesel engine. On the other hand, the interior quality could be better, while the ride quality may feel too firm for some drivers.
As there are no significant changes to come, we expect that the 2023 Chevy Tahoe will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2023 Chevy Tahoe Design
In terms of the overall design, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe won’t bring any particular change. It will represent the third production year of the generation that debuted in 2021, with the new T1 platform and significant weight savings. This redesign also brought big suspension upgrades, so the current generation is the first Tahoe with independent rear suspension. As a result, the ride quality is much better than before. There isn’t much body roll, though some customers believe the suspension setup could be softer.
Visually, the current generation looks a lot like the Silverado, especially at the front. It still feels pretty fresh and looks very attractive, so we don’t believe that the 2023 Chevy Tahoe could bring bigger changes. Still, new color options are always possible.
Interior
When it comes to the interior design, the Tahoe feels is a bit of a mixed bag. What we don’t like is the overall quality. The materials could be better, while the build quality isn’t spectacular either. Of course, the cabin still looks good but we feel that rivals look better.
On the other hand, where this SUV impresses is the amount of space. This SUV comes standard with three rows of space and all of them are spacious and comfortable. Even the third is adult-friendly, for the first time in a Tahoe.
Things are even more impressive in terms of the cargo capacity. You may count on about 25.5 cubic feet behind the third-row seats and 72.6 cubic feet with those seats folded and 122.9 cubic feet of the overall cargo volume. That’s way more space than you get in Ford Expedition, for example.
Features
We don’t believe that the next year’s model could be much different in this aspect. So, base versions should come equipped with goodies like a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, voice recognition, a six-speaker stereo, a Wi-Fi hot spot, eight USB ports, remote start, tri-zone automatic climate control, two household-style power outlets, and proximity keyless entry. Among upgrades, expect to find things like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless device charging, navigation, a second-row entertainment system, a nine-speaker Bose sound system, a 10-speaker Bose surround-sound stereo, a panoramic sunroof, a universal garage door opener, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with front and rear parking sensors, rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers etc. The list of upgrades should include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, rearview mirror camera, head-up display, surround-view camera, rear pedestrian detection etc.
2023 Chevy Tahoe Engines
Things under the hood definitely won’t change. The 2023 Chevy Tahoe will continue with three familiar powertrain options, starting from the familiar 5.3-liter V8, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. For those who look for something more capable, there is the well-known 6.2-liter V8, which is good for about 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, there is a diesel version, equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-six. The engine puts out 277 horsepower and a pretty impressive 460 pound-feet of torque, so it’s no wonder it moves this large SUV with ease. At the same time, you may count on impressive fuel economy, which goes around 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
All three engines come coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2023 Chevy Tahoe Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2023 Chevy Tahoe sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 51.000 dollars.
