Chevy’s flagship SUV has been around for ages and the current model continues to impress loyal customers. Famous for the tremendous amount of space and capable powertrain options, this model remains the ultimate hauler. The current generation has been around for less than two years and the 2023 Chevy Suburban will represent the third production year. Therefore, it seems too early for bigger updates, even though the initial plan was to introduce Super Cruise to this model. However, that won’t happen, mainly because of semiconductors shortage. That addition has been delayed for 2024.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Chevy Suburban will continue to offer familiar design characteristics and features. As we’ve just mentioned, this SUV is famous for its spacious interior and capable powertrain. Also, it is available in diesel version, with impressive fuel economy. Furthermore, we like the intuitive infotainment system, along with a long list of standard and available features.
Considering that there are no novelties to come for the next year, we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
2023 Chevy Suburban Design
So, the 2023 Chevy Suburban will continue without more important changes. We are about to see a familiar design, based on the company’s familiar T1 platform. Besides impressive interior space, this SUV has many other great things to offer. The current generation is the first one to feature independent rear suspension, so the ride quality is way better compared to the previous generations. Also, the new model is lighter than its predecessors, which reflects a better fuel economy.
Visually, the Suburban closely follows the brand’s contemporary design language. The front end looks pretty much the same as the Silverado, which has just a couple of different details. The rest of the body comes in a typical wagon-like layout and the only thing that can’t be considered a kind of drawback is the wheelbase, which measures 134 inches. As a result, the SUV isn’t very maneuverable in tight spaces.
Obviously, one of the main reasons why people buy this SUV is the amount of passenger space. Considering the exterior dimensions, it’s no wonder that the cabin features three extremely spacious, adult-friendly rows of seats. So, the Suburban comfortably accommodates up to eight adults. All seats are comfortable, while the cargo area also offers some of the most impressive numbers in the class. You may count on about 41.5 cubic feet of space behind the third-row seats, 93.8 cubic feet with these seats folded and 144.7 cubic feet. These are class-leading numbers, shared with the corporal twin – GMC Yukon XL.
Besides plenty of space, the 2023 Chevy Suburban will also continue to feature a nicely designed cabin, which looks attractive and feels pretty solid. The materials are decent, while there is also a pretty long list of standard and available features, which makes this SUV look even more upscale.
We don’t expect that the 2023 Chevy Suburban could bring bigger changes in this aspect. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, eight USB ports, HD Radio, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, a Wi-Fi hot spot, keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, and tri-zone automatic climate control.
Among available features, expect to find goodies like a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, navigation, nine- and 10-speaker stereos, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 12.6-inch touch screens.
When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beams and many more.
2023 Chevy Suburban Engines
The engine lineup will certainly remain the same and it will include three options. Base versions will continue with a familiar 5.3-liter V8, which puts out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. While that’s plenty enough for a convenient ride, the company also offers a more powerful V8 for more ambitious drivers. Of course, we are talking about the well-known 6.2-liter unit, which puts out 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, there is a diesel version, for all those with fuel economy in mind. That model features a 3.0-liter inline-six, which puts out around 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Besides good driving dynamics, this engine also provides excellent fuel economy, which goes around 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
All engines come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2023 Chevy Suburban Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2023 Chevy Suburban on sale sometime in the last quarter of the year, with the starting price of around 54.000 dollars. Key competitors will be models like Ford Expedition Max, Jeep Wagoneer L, Toyota Sequoia etc.
