As the Ingolstadt company is currently busy with the brand-new, full-size Q9, which is about to compete with BWM X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, we are pretty sure that the next year won’t bring anything notable for the well-known mid-size crossover. The 2023 Audi Q7 Hybrid is about to continue in the same way and we believe it has a few more years before complete overhaul, despite that the current generation has been around since 2016. After all, the original model was in production for a full decade.
All in all, we are about to see a familiar layout, with just a couple of possible novelties in terms of standard and available equipment. Therefore, the 2023 Audi Q7 Hybrid will continue to deliver smooth performance, a comfortable ride and high-end interior quality. We also like the amount of standard and available tech features. On the other hand, the biggest complaint goes to the tight third row and not particularly great fuel economy.
Considering that there are no significant changes to come, we expect to see the 2023 Audi Q7 Hybrid sometime late in 2022.
2023 Audi Q7 Hybrid Powertrain
Of course, the most interesting part of the 2023 Audi Q7 Hybrid is its powertrain. This large crossover comes in several variants regarding powertrain and the only hybrid version available in North America is the one that combines a 3.0-liter V6 engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid setup. The max output goes around 335 horsepower and while the mild-hybrid setup doesn’t have an impact on power, it makes this thirsty V6 more efficient than before. The average fuel economy goes around 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. That’s pretty close to the base version, which is equipped with a 250-hp turbo-four engine.
On the other hand, Audi offers a couple of plug-in hybrid versions in other parts of the world. Both are based on the same 3.0-liter engine and both come in pair with a 17.3-kWh battery pack. The first one is called Q7 55 TFSI e and offers a combined output of 376 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. On the other hand, the 60 TFSI e model comes with more capable electric motors and offers a total output of 450 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
All versions come in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.
2023 Audi Q7 Hybrid Design
Other than the powertrain, the 2023 Audi Q7 Hybrid won’t be much different compared to the rest of the lineup. The current generation has been around since 2016 and it is based on the well-known MLB platform, the same one that underpins models like Porsche Cayenne, VW Touareg etc. What we really like about this SUV is the ride quality. The Q7 offers a super-smooth ride but at the same time, the handling feels quite engaging.
Styling-wise, the 2023 Audi Q7 Hybrid will continue with the same design, which was introduced with the 2020 facelift. For that occasion, we saw a completely new front end, with a more prominent grille, sharper headlights and more aggressive bumpers. The next year shouldn’t bring anything more notable.
Interior
The same thing goes for interior design. The current cabin already looks pretty impressive. The dashboard looks nice, especially when combined with all those tech features, including massive infotainment and instrument cluster screens. More importantly, the materials and build quality are impressive and we can say that the Q7 doesn’t show its age at all. Moreover, it still looks very fresh.
When it comes to the 2023 Audi Q7 Hybrid interior space, the first two rows will continue to deliver a high level of comfort. The front seats are massive and supportive, while the second row accommodates adults with ease. On the other hand, the third row is typically tight for the segments and works best for kids.
The cargo area is one of the weak points of this crossover. You may count on 14.2 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 35.7 cubic feet behind the second, and a maximum of 69.6 cubic feet behind the front row. That is way below average for the segment.
Features
Novelties in terms of standard equipment are possible here and there but most of the things will remain the same. Therefore, all models should come standard with goodies like a 10.1-inch upper touch screen, an 8.6-inch lower touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, navigation, Bluetooth, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, HD Radio, and a 10-speaker stereo, as well as with push-button start, proximity keyless entry, a panoramic sunroof, and tri-zone automatic climate control.
Among available upgrades, you can find things like wireless device charging, a 19-speaker Bose stereo, and a 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, as well as quad-zone climate control.
2023 Audi Q7 Hybrid Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Audi Q7 Hybrid will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 62.000 dollars. Key competitors are similarly-priced versions of BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE etc.
