The current generation of Toyota’s biggest SUV is in production for more than 12 years but the Japanese manufacturer isn’t in a hurry to replace it at all. The focus is currently on the next-generation Tundra, which is about to arrive by the end of the year. Only after that, we will see changes in the rest of Toyota’s BoF lineup. This clearly indicates that the next year’s model will carry on in the same way, including the off-road performance-oriented 2022 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro. Naturally, minor updates are always possible but the overall layout will certainly remain the same.
So, you may count on familiar specs and features. While the overall design is pretty much the same as in standard models, this version also comes with plenty of upgrades, especially in terms of off-road hardware. Therefore, it’s no wonder it offers excellent off-road performances. Besides that, we also like its capable engine, spacious cabin and a long list of safety features.

When it comes to base design characteristics, this version isn’t any different compared to other models in the lineup. It features the same old design that hasn’t changed for a very long time. The mechanics are pretty rudimental by today’s standards, while the styling looks outdated as well.

Interior

Compared to standard versions, it comes with things black upholstery and several unique accessories.
Unlike the base model, this version comes as a 7-seater. With more than 120 inches in wheelbase, it’s no wonder that there is plenty of room for passengers. All rows accommodate adults with ease, including the third row. The cargo area also offers respectable numbers for the class. You may count on about 18.9 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 66.6 behind the second, and a total of 120.1 behind the first.
Features
Novelties in terms of standard equipment are always possible but we don’t expect that the next year could bring anything more important. So, we count on tech goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, an eight-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, three USB ports, tri-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat etc. The list of standard features should also include goodies like a 14-speaker JBL stereo, navigation system etc.
The list of standard safety features is also pretty long. You may count on things like a rearview camera, fog lights, a pre-collision warning and braking system, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights.

Things under the hood definitely won’t change. The 2022 Toyota Sequoia TRD will continue with a good-old 5.7-liter V8, which puts out around 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. That’s a fair amount of power, so it’s no wonder that driving dynamics are good. The SUV rounds pretty conveniently and the credit also goes to the 6-speed automatic transmission, which shifts right on time. The whole configuration is pretty rigid and durable and promises years and decades of exploitation.
As we already mentioned, this SUV comes with numerous off-road upgrades. The overall capability isn’t exactly on the Land Cruiser’s level, but it’s great enough to satisfy most off-road enthusiasts. When it comes to towing, this particular version is good for about 7.100 pounds.

As there are no bigger changes to come, we presume that the next year’s model will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2021. We don’t expect bigger changes in price either. The current model starts at around 65.000 dollars.
