While everyone talks about the new Tesla Model S Plaid these days, the Model X goes a little bit under the radar. Still, a couple of our well-informed sources suggest that the electric carmaker already works on some big changes on this mid-size crossover. According to them, the all-new version could arrive already in about two years. This could be a complete redesign, which would bring changes to the 2022 Tesla Model X in all kinds of aspects.

Of course, the automotive world is mostly interested in things like range and performances, but we believe that Tesla designers will also put the focus on other things. This particularly refers to practicality and interior quality, as this model isn’t particularly impressive in these aspects. Still, keep in mind that these are just rumors, so take the following paragraphs with a big reserve.

2022 Tesla Model X Redesign

When it comes to the Tesla Model X redesign 2022, we can only rely on rumors at the moment. Still, that doesn’t mean that we can’t speculate about the possible changes. Of course, one of the first things that come to mind is a new platform. Of course, it would bring improvements in all kinds of aspects, as well as new technologies that would provide more compact battery packaging, lower center of gravity etc.

We also count on the new exterior design. At this point, it’s still hard to talk about the details, but there is no doubt that changes would be evolutionary. The new 2022 Tesla Model X would come based on the brand’s latest design language, with minor upgrades only. When it comes to dimensions, we expect that the new model will become slightly bigger. The current model measures around 116.7 inches in wheelbase and more than 198 inches in the overall length. Most likely, the new model will be a little bit longer.

Also, some sources suggest that the new model would come with a different body layout. It could abandon the current sloping roof layout and come with a more conventional approach. Of course, this would provide more headroom for the passenger in the last row, as well as more cargo space but we will get on that in a minute.

We believe that Tesla designers will put a lot of attention to the interior redesign. Simply, the current model features interior quality that is far away from the cabins you can find in similarly-priced models. Materials aren’t great, though the biggest issues in the build quality, as final touches are really bad. That’s why we expect from the 2022 Tesla Model X interior to come with a far better overall quality. On the other side, we don’t expect to see a much different approach in terms of the dashboard design, which should keep that futuristic and minimalistic approach.

On the other side, a more conventional roofline would certainly provide more room on the inside. We believe that the new model would probably come standard with three rows of seats. Also, we count on more legroom in the second row, while the cargo area should be notably bigger as well. The current model features a max cargo capacity of around 87 cubic feet.

2022 Tesla Model X Drivetrain

Of course, the new generation would also bring novelties in terms of the drivetrain. We count on improvements, both in terms of range and performances. At this point, it’s still early for the exact details, though we have no doubt that we are about to see some improvements compared to the current generation, which comes in two variants. The first one is called the Long Range Plus, which provides a max range of around 350 miles. This model is also very fast, as it needs less than five seconds to hit 60. The Performance model takes everything to the next level, as it goes from zero to sixty in just 3.5 seconds. That’s not all, as in Ludicrous mode it hits 60 in an even shorter time, in ridiculous 2.6 seconds. We can’t even imagine how fast the new 2022 Tesla Model X will be.

2022 Tesla Model X Release Date and Price

We expect to see the all-new 2022 Tesla Model X in about two years. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect that significant changes compared to the current generation, which starts around 80.000 dollars.
