The recent redesign has brought a full load of novelties and the new model is now far better than its predecessor. It offers much better ride quality, more space on the inside and a full load of the latest tech features. Therefore, it’s hard to expect bigger changes for the 2022 GMC Yukon, which will represent the second production year of the current generation. Normally, we would see nothing but a few more things on the list of standard equipment but the latest reports suggest the Yukon might get Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system. At this point, we are still waiting to hear something from the officials on this matter.

The rest of the vehicle, though, will remain the same. This is still a very fresh model, strong in so many fields. So, it’s obvious that bigger changes won’t happen in the next few years. The 2022 GMC Yukon will continue to offer a smooth ride, powerful engine options, spacious interior and impressive cargo volume. We expect to see it sometime in the second half of next year.

2022 GMC Yukon Design

As we’ve just mentioned, this is still a very fresh model, so there is no need for bigger updates at the moment. The recent redesign has brought a lot of improvements, thanks to the new T1 platform, which is once again shared with Sierra. More precisely, the Yukon shares most of its parts with Tahoe/Suburban, but that’s something we’ve been seeing for years.

Visually, the model looks more stylish and more mature than its predecessor and the 2022 GMC Yukon will continue to come in few different appearance packages, depending on the trim level you choose. Besides the standard model, there is also a well-known Denali trim, which brings several unique styling details, starting from the grille, wheels etc.

For the first time, this SUV comes in AT4 iteration, which comes with several styling details that emphasize its off-road capabilities. It also comes with numerous mechanical upgrades, such as standard all-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, skid plates, and hill descent control.

On the inside, things won’t change too much. The Yukon has always been considered an excellent family hauler and the new generation is even better than before. Improvements are particularly great in terms of legroom, as the first row now offers 44.5 inches, while the second is good for about 42. Even the third row is now adult-friendly, as it offers nearly 35 inches of legroom. For comparison, that’s the same amount of legroom you get in the second row of a mid-size Lexus GX.

The dashboard comes in two layouts, as Denali now looks completely different in this aspect. In both cases, everything looks fine and quite classy, definitely more upscale compared to the Ford Expedition

Finally, there is the cargo area, bigger than ever. You may count on 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 72.6 behind the second and 122.9 cubics of the overall volume. Keep in mind that we are talking about a standard-wheelbase version. For comparison, this is more compared to Ford Expedition Max or previous generation Yukon XL.

When it comes to standard and available equipment, most of the things are about to remain the same. However, some sources suggest that the 2022 GMC Yukon could come with Super Cruise autonomous driving system. This advanced feature has already been confirmed for 2022 Sierra, so we expect to see it available in this model too.

Other than that, things should remain pretty much the same. Therefore, the base model will be equipped with tech goodies like a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six speakers, satellite radio, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, six USB ports, tri-zone automatic climate control etc. Additionally, you can get things like navigation, panoramic sunroof, rear-seat entertainment system etc.

2022 GMC Yukon Design Engines

Things under the hood will definitely remain the same. You may count on three familiar engines, and the offer starts with a well-known 5.3-liter V8, which puts out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. If you’re looking for something more powerful, a 6.2-liter V8 is in the offer too. This one puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

Those who are looking for something more efficient can pick a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which puts out around 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It’s not as fast as gasoline engines, but the huge amount of torque allows it to move this large SUV with ease. All three engines come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

2022 GMC Yukon Release Date and Price

Despite the possible updates, we expect to see the 2022 GMC Yukon Design sometime in the second half of the year. Bigger price changes aren’t expected either, so base models should go around 51.000 dollars.
