GMC’s flagship model has been redesigned last year and logically, the second production year brings no notable changes. That refers to the whole lineup, including the 2022 GMC Yukon Denali, which sits at the top of the offer. This model is characterized by numerous exclusive features, whether it’s about exterior design, or interior and standard equipment. For the upcoming model year, the company prepared just one tweak – the power-sliding center console is now standard. Other than that, things have remained the same.

All in all, you may count on a luxurious SUV, which has a lot of great things to offer, starting from a spacious and premium cabin, a long list of standard equipment and lots of exclusive details. Furthermore, it comes with a couple of capable powertrain options on the offer, as well as with the available four-wheel drive and even limited-slip differential.

As there are no significant updates, the 2022 GMC Yukon Denali is coming at a typical time of year, in the next few weeks.

2022 GMC Yukon Denali Design

When it comes to the overall design, the 2022 GMC Yukon Denali won’t be much different compared to the rest of the lineup. The new generation arrived last year and has brought a lot of improvement, starting from a lighter and more efficient platform, upgraded chassis with the independent rear suspension and much more. Therefore, we don’t expect bigger changes in this aspect in the following years.

Visually, the Denali is as distinctive as usual. The overall shape is the same as in other models, but there are several exclusive styling details, starting from a unique grille design. There are also unique wheels, as well as a lot of chrome trim around the vehicle, which accentuates the model’s exclusive character. For this year, the company added a new color option, called Redwood Metallic.

The second production year won’t bring any significant changes inside the cabin. The 2022 GMC Yukon Denali interior will continue in the same way, with a different dashboard design compared to the rest of the lineup. This dash design comes with an integrated infotainment screen and generally looks more luxurious. Besides different dashboard designs, this cabin also features finer materials and more exclusive details, such as a different steering wheel.

The rest of the cabin is also wrapped with finer materials compared to cheaper versions, but the overall layout is pretty much the same. There are three spacious rows of seats, with plenty of room to accommodate adults in all three of them. The cargo area is also extremely generous, as you may count on about 25.5 cubic feet of space behind the third-row seats. That expands to 72.6 cubic feet with the third-row seats folded down and 122.9 cubic feet of the overall cargo space.

This is the most expensive version of the SUV, so it’s no surprise that the list of standard equipment is very long. For this model year, the company added a power-sliding center console to the list of standard equipment. Other than that, things are pretty much the same as in the previous year’s model. Some of the highlights are a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and power-folding third-row seats, second-row bucket seats, a head-up display, a surround-view parking camera system, and rear pedestrian alert.

There are also few optional packages on offer, such as the Advanced Technology package (rear camera mirror and adaptive cruise control), Premium Package (power-retractable assist steps and a panoramic sunroof), as well as the Ultimate Package (a rear-seat entertainment system, an adaptive air suspension, and, in four-wheel-drive models, a limited-slip differential).

2022 GMC Yukon Denali Engines

When it comes to powertrain, the Denali comes standard with a bigger and more powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It comes in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to rear wheels. Four-wheel drive is available too. Driving dynamics are pretty good, while the average fuel economy goes around 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway.

If you’re looking for something more efficient, the Denali is also available with a 3.0-liter V6 Turbodiesel, which puts out around 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This engine also comes coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Of course, this version is notably slower than the one with the V8 but offers way better fuel economy. It is also a great choice if you need to tow a lot.

2022 GMC Yukon Denali Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2022 GMC Yukon Denali will hit the market in the next few weeks, with a starting price of around 71.000 dollars. Key competitors are range-topping versions of Ford Expedition, Chevy Tahoe, as well as entry-level variants of the new Jeep Wagoneer.
