The new generation of the famous SUV has finally arrived and it comes with loads of novelties. The new model looks way better than before and brings luxury and comfort to the next year. As a completely new model, it is expected to remain the same for the next couple of years. However, it looks like we could see some really interesting novelties for the next year, including a hi-performance version of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade. Other than that, things are about to remain pretty much the same.
This means you may count on a luxury SUV that offers a cushioned ride and plenty of luxury. At the same time, it features impressive tech features, including that huge combination of three screens at the front. The current model comes with two engines in the offer, but this could change soon, considering the aforementioned rumors about the performance version. In any case, we don’t expect to see this model much earlier than usual.
2022 Cadillac Escalade Changes
The new generation of Escalade has just arrived. The recent redesign has brought a lot of novelties and now looks much better in nearly every aspect. It rides better, it looks better and it also handles better, thanks to the new chassis and independent rear suspension. Of course, the styling is new as well, once again much better compared to the previous generation.
However, one of the rare things that don’t impress is performance. Even though the standard V8 is powerful and capable, many rivals have far more powerful options in the offer, such as AMG and M versions of German competitors. Therefore, many expect to see the 2022 Cadillac Escalade-V as GM’s answer. Of course, this model would come with all kinds of mechanical upgrades, starting from a new suspension and brakes. Naturally, it would also come with the styling that accentuates its hi-performance character.
The new performance version would certainly come with a couple of tweaks on the inside. We could see new materials and color schemes, while sportier seats don’t seem unlikely at all. However, most of the things would remain the same. This means the same overall layout, which is very luxurious. Materials are fantastic, just like the overall build quality. Of course, the new system of screens is the highlight of this interior. It includes three screens with a total size of 38.3 inches. There is a 14.2 digital instrument cluster, as well as a massive 16.9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. The third screen measures 7.2 inches and it is on the far left. It is reserved for various gauges, as well as on NightVision control and control of many other systems.
When it comes to the interior space, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade will carry on with three very spacious rows of seats. The front row offers more than 44 inches in legroom, while the second row also goes way over 40 inches. Finally, the third row is pretty decent as well. It offers around 35 cubic feet, which is definitely enough to comfortably accommodate adult passengers. The cargo area is also pretty generous and offers around 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 73 behind the second and 121 cubic feet of the total cargo space.
We don’t expect significant changes in this aspect and most of the things should remain the same. This means that base models will come with goodies like a 16.9-inch touch screen, a 7.2-inch digital control panel, a 14.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, a 19-speaker AKG Studio stereo, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, two USB ports, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, HD radio, a household-style power outlet, proximity keyless entry, remote start, tri-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The list of options will include things like a 36-speaker AKG Studio Reference surround-sound stereo and a rear-seat entertainment system, panoramic sunroof, air ionization, center-console cooler etc.
2022 Cadillac Escalade Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade will carry on with two familiar engines in the offer. Base models will be equipped with a 6.2-liter V8, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. There is also a familiar 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which is good for 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
For the next year, the aforementioned performance model would certainly come with a new engine. Although the company is still quiet on this matter, we are pretty sure that would be Cadillac’s 4.2-liter twin-turbo engine, which can be found under the hoods of models like CT6-V, which puts out around 550 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. Other sources suggest a twin-turbo V8 6.2-liter engine from Corvette ZR1, whose numbers are yet to come.
2022 Cadillac Escalade Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2022 Cadillac Escalade will come sometime in the second half of the next year. Base models will go around 78.000 dollars, while key competitors will be models like Lincoln Navigator, Mercedes-Benz GLS etc.
