In the world of high-performance SUVs, one of the places belongs to the RSQ8 model, which is the most capable Audi SUV you can get. Equipped with a powerful twin-turbo V8, it offers excellent performance, but a performance that is combined with other qualities of the SUV. For this year, the 2022 Audi RSQ8 comes without more important updates, though there are a few interesting novelties to mention, especially in terms of new safety features and optional interior details.
On the other hand, the overall layout remains the same. So, you may count on an SUV that offers things like excellent acceleration, agile handling and attractive but elegant design. Also, there are typical Audi qualities, such as excellent interior quality and loads of tech features. On the other hand, the biggest complaints go to things like soft brake feel and the lack of the third row, which is something that visitors of our website care about.
2022 Audi RSQ8 Design
The 2022 Audi RSQ8 brings no significant changes, so you may count on a familiar design, which has been around for a couple of years. Of course, this SUV is heavily based on the standard model, which means that it rides on the well-known MLB platform. However, it comes with a full load of upgrades. For example, there is a sporty suspension setup, which improves handling significantly. Also, there are upgraded brakes, though we have to say that the brake pedal feels definitely isn’t at the same level as on corporate siblings like Porsche Cayenne or Lamborghini Urus.
Visually, the 2022 Audi RSQ8 continues with the familiar styling, that feels a little bit toned down when compared to rivals. That makes this SUV a kind of sleeper, which is something we definitely like very much. Still, the RSQ8 stands out in many ways in terms of styling. There are unique wheels, exclusive colors and a whole lot of small details that accentuate its performance character.
2022 Audi RSQ8 Engine
Without any doubt, this is the most interesting part of the 2022 Audi RSQ8. This year’s model continues in the same way. It features a well-known 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which puts out around 591 horsepower. That’s around 50 horses less compared to the Urus, but the acceleration is still out of this world. This large SUV needs just 3.7 seconds to hit 60 mph. Of course, the SUV comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which does a great job too.
The top speed is 189 mph and considering all these crazy numbers, it’s kinda expected to see low mpg figures. They go around 13 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. Obviously, this is the sacrifice you have to make in order to get this level of performance.
On the inside, things are pretty similar as in the standard Q8 model. The build quality is excellent, while the materials are fine. Furthermore, there is a full load of tech features, which make everything look even more upscale.
For this year, the company introduced a couple of interesting novelties. Probably the biggest upgrade is the new available RS-Design Package, which includes carpeted floor mats with the RS logo, striped seatbelts, and faux-suede Alcantara upholstery on the center console, steering wheel, and shift knob.
The amount of interior space is pretty much the same as in the standard version. There are two very spacious and comfortable rows, while the front seats come upgraded, with much better side support. The cargo area also offers the same numbers – 30.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 60.7 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
As we are talking about the most expensive version of the SUV, it makes perfect sense that it comes with a full load of standard equipment. Among standard features, you can find a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.1- and 8.6-inch touch screens, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, two USB ports, HD Radio, premium audio system, a Wi-Fi hot spot, four-zone automatic climate control and ambient lighting and many more.
When it comes to safety features, the 2022 model brings a couple of updates. Those are adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. Also, there is a new optional package, which adds goodies like traffic sign recognition and an Intersection Assist feature.
Among standard safety features, you can also find goodies like a rearview camera, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and many more.
