The competition in the segment of compact crossovers is extremely tough. This is arguably the most competitive segment in the automotive industry today. Therefore, every manufacturer is finding a way to stand out. Some offer more style, others offer better efficiency etc. On the other side, Tiguan focuses on practicality. That’s the reason why we have an Allspace version in the offer. While other compact crossovers feature two rows of seats, this one is available in the three-row version as well.  That’s obviously a huge benefit and a great thing to know is that the company prepares some updates for the next year. The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace is about to get a facelift and it looks like the changes will be surprisingly big, given the VW’s policy on mid-cycle updates.

According to the latest reports, we are about to see a typical mid-cycle refresh, which will put the focus on styling updates. On the other side, the overall design is about to remain pretty much the same. We expect that the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace release date will be scheduled for the second half of the year.

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Interior Space

This aspect definitely won’t bring any particular change, so you may count on familiar dimensions. Although essentially a compact crossover, this model comes in versions with three rows as well. In this case, Tiguan features a stretched wheelbase, that goes almost to  110 inches. That quite a lot in practice, pretty close to some mid-size crossovers in the class. Such size provides plenty of legroom in the first and second rows. For example, the front row features more than 40 inches in legroom, while the second row is good for about 39 inches. This is pretty respectable, even for mid-size crossovers, so five adults can accommodate in this crossover with ease.

On the other side, things are a little bit different when it comes to the third row. There you get slightly under 28 inches of legroom. For a compact crossover, that is an impressive number, but still tight for most adults. In any case, the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace will continue to offer more interior space than any other compact crossover in the class.

When it comes to 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace cargo capacity, you may count on familiar numbers. There are 12 cubic feet behind the third row, 33 behind the second, while the total cargo volume goes up to 65.7 cubic feet. These are quite respectable numbers for the class.

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Changes

As we already, the facelift is on the way and we are about to see 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace changes as well. At this point, we know for sure that the new model is about to come with various styling updates. Of course, most of the changes are will come to the front end. We are about to see new headlights, a new bumper with much bigger air intakes and generally a completely new front fascia. Changes are expected on the other end as well. We will probably see new LED taillights, as well as the “Tiguan” lettering on the tailgate, which became a common aesthetical detail on newer VW models.

On the other side, we are unsure about interior design. Most likely, we won’t see bigger changes, considering that the current cabin already looks pretty nice. The dashboard looks good, while most of the cabin features pretty high overall quality. Still, we might see updated in terms of new tech features. The current model seems well-equipped, but there is always room for new things, such as a bigger touchscreen and similar things.

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Engine

This is probably the weakest point of the current model and the aspect where we would definitely like to see some novelties. The current model comes with only one engine in the offer. It is a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which delivers a max output of 184 horsepower. It seems enough power for a daily ride, but most rivals have more powerful options in the offer. Therefore, we hope that VW will come up with something new in the offer under the hood.

Still, the lack of power doesn’t mean this crossover isn’t good to drive. First of all, there is a great-working 8-speed automatic transmission, which ensures a smooth and convenient ride. We also like the handling, which is among the bests in class. On the other side, the fuel economy is below-average for the class. This engine returns around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace Release Date and Price

Considering that there are some pretty nice changes to come for the next year, we expect that the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace will arrive a little bit earlier arrival, probably in the third quarter of 2020. On the other side, we don’t expect significant changes in terms of the price, which currently starts at around 26.000 dollars.
