The 2021 Infiniti QX80 is bringing the first large update after 2010. Yes, we saw the facelift a couple of years ago, but the full-size SUV needs something stunning. The new generation is exactly what Nissan and Infiniti are aiming. Even after a decade in production, the current generation of the QX80 is pretty attractive. Well, in 2018 the SUV achieved the best-selling season.
Well, the new 2021 Infiniti QX80 will keep some cool features. First of all, that is the 5.6-liter V8 engine. The large unit can meet requirements of the full-size luxury segment. On the other hand, we hope to see a diesel unit. It is an engine we find in the Nissan Titan XD truck. A 5.0-liter turbodiesel V8 Cummins mill seems to be an excellent choice for some special version of the QX80.
The new SUV will be based on the all-new Monograph concept. This is the platform for all future SUVs by Infiniti and some Nissan models. The futuristic design will definitely be interesting. The luxury SUV is ready to make a new step in its evolution and the concept is looking ready for production.
2021 QX80 Redesign Details
The new 2021 Infiniti QX80 is suffering a redesign, that is a certain thing. On the other hand, there are no too many available details about changes and modifications. Well, we know the new luxury SUV will find inspiration in the Monograph concept. But, do not expect the production version to be exactly the same as the architecture we saw some while ago.
This model is more than years old. It is definitely time for changes. Still, we don’t have an idea what will 2021 QX80 look like. Both exterior and interior are going to suffer a lot of modifications. Whatsoever, it is early to know details about the new SUV.
What is Monograph Concept?
Back in 2017, Infiniti presented the new concept. At NY car show we saw something that is advertised as the future of the SUV segment for this company. The Monograph platform presented the 197-inch long vehicle, 11 inches shorter than the current QX80.
Its shape is more aggressive and the lines starting from a grille and to the cabin are extending the length. But, that is only a visual trick. Air vents on the both end of double-chin bumper and aluminum details are highlights of the front fascia. Of course, if the 2021 QX80 gets this package, it will use LED lamps for headlights. Aluminum skid plates promises the better off-road capabilities.
However, the most notable highlights of the architecture are satin finishes and the large double-arched grille. Human-eye headlamps with piano key details that look like eyelashes are something new. Side-view cameras on fenders are definitely something that will draw attention and lure more buyers.

Interior
The company haven’t provided too many details about the interior of the new 2021 QX80. However, we are sure the cabin is going to be the state of art. Well, the shorter wheelbase and body will make it less spacious than before. The carmaker will try to fix this with richer offer of equipment inside the luxury SUV.
So, we have Apple CarPlay as a standard feature. Navigation should be there right for the base model. Of course, Infiniti will leave something for the upper trim levels, especially Limited model. The new look of the dashboard and gauges, with a large screen at the center will set challenge to all other vehicles in the same category.
2021 Infiniti QX80 Specs
Under the hood of the 2021 Infiniti QX80 is a 5.6-liter V8 engine. Although it is capable to produce 400 horsepower, the company is considering other options. A 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 is not going to be a surprise.
The fuel economy is definitely the main reason why engineers want to replace the large powertrain. It returns 16 mpg, or even less if you opt for the AWD instead of an RWD. On the other hand, there is a special 4LO mode for off-road conditions. The good thing about the V8 unit is its great towing capacity (8,500 pounds).
A twin-turbo V6 is a drivetrain that can develop either 300 or 400 horsepower. Innovations on this engine are improving performance and maneuverability. So, this one is matching the outputs of the V8, brings a better fuel economy and improves handling. But, the downside will be turbo lags and you are not getting anywhere close to 8,500 pounds of towing capacity.
2021 Infiniti QX80 Release Date
The new generation of the 2021 Infiniti QX80 is possible. If that happens, the SUV will have a huge premiere. Either way, when the Monograph concept takes the larger share on the luxury SUV, the Japanese company is going to book a place at some of the biggest auto shows in the USA for its premiere. The price of the 2021QX80 will go up compared to the existing cost. Also, it depends on the engine and V6 configurations.
QX80 is not the only three-row SUV by Infiniti. Check out the latest news about the mid-size QX60 HERE.
If Infiniti is not going to offer a power plant adaptable for superchargers, or a supercharged 5.6 that can do the 0-60 in 3.5 to 4 seconds and boosts to 100 quickly, they are losing a market I dont think they are even aware of. Almost everyone, not just saying, says my 2018 AWH/4WH QX80 is the best looking, BEST HANDLING of ALL large SUVs. The driving aids are unmatched, except the center lane aid not offered. A fantastic car all around. Hope for increased power or easier adaptability to after market.
