The new flagship crossover in the lineup of Bavarian carmaker has been around for a while and, of course, hi-performance versions under the famous “M” badge are in the game as well. While we are waiting for the 600-hp version, the current version is already available as the 2020 BMW X7 M 50i. This model already offers impressive performances, not just in terms of impressive acceleration, but also in terms of the overall driving experince.
Thanks to the special suspension setup, this version offers impressive driving characteristics. Also, there are several more upgrades, including various styling modifications. This version rides better and also looks more aggressive compared to the standard model. The new M version, which is expected to come in the next year will be even more extreme, with upgrades in all aspects. Until we see it, the M50i remains the only 2020 BMW X7 M version in the offer.
2020 BMW X7 M Performances
This model is amazing in many aspects, but performances are the first thing that comes to mind. The current 2020 BMW X7 M50i comes with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, which delivers around 525 horsepower and comes paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine provides impressive performances, but the next-year M model is expected to be even more impressive. This one will use the same engine but tuned up to 600+ horsepower. With such output, you may count on astonishing acceleration. For comparison, the current 2020 BMW X7 M 50i 0-60 time goes around 4.5 seconds. The new version will be even more impressive.
Although fuel economy isn’t something that bothers those who prefer excellent performances, we should mention that the current model returns around 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. The new M model will be even thirstier.
2020 BMW X7 M Design
As a hi-performance version, the 2020 BMW X7 M gets special treatment. On one side, the base design isn’t much different compared to the rest of the lineup. This model rides on a new CLAR platform, which is modular and undeprints most BMW models. The overall styling is also pretty much the same.
On the other side, there is a full load of upgrades, both in terms of mechanics and aesthetics. When it comes to mechanics, you may count on the upgraded suspension, lower ground clearance etc. In terms of aesthetics, you can easily notice exclusive be-spoke wheels, which are bigger and lighter compared to the standard package. New bumpers and the rest of the body kit are also here. So, we may presume that the next-year M model will go even more extreme, in order to accentuate its amazing performances.
One one side, the 2020 BMW X7 M50i interior already comes with several upgrades, but the new M model will be even more extreme in this aspect. It’s still early to talk about details, but we count on upgrades in various aspects, starting fro additional Alcantara leather, carbo trim, and some extra features. On the other side, the overall cabin layout will remain the same. Therefore, you may count on excellent interior quality. Although some rivals might look more opulent, the fact is that this crossover features impressive materials’ quality, maybe even better than the closest rivals that are characterized by flashier dashboards.
When it comes to the seating configuration, you may count on three spacious rows of seats. Even the third one can comfortably accommodate adults on shorter trips. When it comes to cargo capacity, you may count on about 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 48.6 cubic feet with the third row folded, and a vast 90.4 cubic feet with both rear rows folded. These are typical ratings for the class, where Mercedes AMG GLS 63 is one of the biggest rivals.
One thing is certain, the upcoming 2020 BMW X7 M will be fully loaded with features. We presume that the list of standard equipment will include all kinds of tech goodies, including things like a 12.3-inch iDrive infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay, navigation, HD Radio, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and three USB ports. The list of standard equipment will also include 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound system, as well as things like remote start, five-zone automatic climate control, heated and cooled cup holders and more.
